Surrounded by beautiful nature and idyllic scenery, young enthusiasts go about their daily business at Aalborg University in Esbjerg. The breathtaking building is located a few kilometers from the vibrant cityscape of the West Jutland port city and provides the setting for a successful study environment. The project was created by Wiberg Arkitekter and Witraz Arkitekter/Rambøll Denmark. However, there was a problem for the students: when the sun's rays hit the building, it became too hot, resulting in a poor indoor climate.

A SIMPLE AND ELEGANT SOLUTION

A poor indoor climate has a significant impact on student well-being and learning. It was therefore necessary to find an exterior solar shading solution that was elegant and easy to integrate into the beautiful building. After a thorough collaboration with the property manager and SlothMøller Consulting Engineers A/S, the university is now adorned with 57 Sun 4000 zip screens on the building's exterior windows.

OPTIMAL SUN PROTECTION WITH A ZIP SCREEN

The Sun 4000 Zip Screen is a good, functional and wind-stable solution that has been tested and approved in wind class 6. On a tall building, zip screens are therefore a great solution as they offer exceptional stability in strong winds.

100% EFFICIENT

Screens ensure optimal daylight conditions and a comfortable indoor climate, and according to property manager at Aalborg University in Esbjerg, Jens Jørgen Jensen, the solar shading has the required effect: ''The solar shading works 100 percent as it should.

FOCUSING ON GOOD SERVICE

During the installation of the solar shading, which also included electrical installation, there was a strong focus on making the process as careful and streamlined as possible, without inconveniencing anyone.

Therefore, all holes were drilled on a weekend so as not to disturb students, lecturers and other staff. In collaboration with a team of electricians, all screens were then carefully installed, with Alux taking special care to cover all dust-sensitive machinery during installation.

''We have a strong focus on being meticulous in the establishment phase and prioritize good cooperation. We are good at integrating solar shading, while at the same time taking care of things and cleaning up after ourselves,''says Ole Iversen, CEO of Alux.
