The spectacular building, built by AP Pension and designed by PLH arkitekter, has more than 2,000 m² of exterior facade blinds that are wind-resistant in wind class 5 up to 21 m/sec.

Specially developed facade blinds

The large gable sections are fitted with specially developed Slat screens, in which the blind guides are discreetly integrated.

"We have been involved in the process from the moment the architects started drawing the first lines. This early involvement means that we can develop fully integrable solutions, such as here in Aksen's iconic gables, so that the building appears as a whole," says Ole Iversen, CEO of Alux, which has also supplied solar shading for two of the five nominated buildings in the Office Building of the Year category.

Good collaboration in construction

NRE is the turnkey contractor for the construction of Aksen. Jon Herkert, project manager from NRE, says about the collaboration with Alux:

"Aksen is a special building with curved facades that are out of the ordinary and require special solutions. The collaboration with Alux has worked without any major difficulties. They have delivered and installed the agreed products on time."

Close collaboration with architects

Alux followed the architects' wishes and the solar shading was partly manufactured in-house. Alux installed the shading and is also responsible for the subsequent servicing.

"Thelocation and architectural design of the building means that we operate with a total of eight zones at different facade heights, where both sun and wind aretaken into account," explains Ole Iversen, and continues: "The external solar shading on the 7,500 m² building, which houses 300 employees, is automatically controlled with Sun 4000 control with touch panel, which includes sun and wind automation, but also seasonal control in relation to the height of the sun in the sky. The angle of the blinds can be adjusted according to the season so that the shading works optimally. Alux has also supplied Fire 4000 EW60 E120 mechanical fire shutters to Aksen."
